Think Tiki!

In the process of looking for Tiki Torches I found a thriving Tiki themed culture just waiting for me. If you're thinking about preparing for backyard pool parties or are considering a beach theme get together this summer you've many options to consider.

Starting with tiki torches I found a dizzying variety to consider. Most of us think of tiki torches as those bamboo sticks, split on the end and a small container with a wick strapped within the split end. They're also available in stainless steel and can use either solar power, propane, or conventional oil. They're available in table top models, models that attach to patio railings, and can either stick in the ground conventionally, or can be used with a stand - not unlike a patio umbrella.

There are also a large number of places where you can obtain tiki umbrellas too. I'm talking about an umbrella that looks like its from Gilligan's Island or something. Some consist of the grass top attached to material stretched across conventional umbrella frames. Others are genuinely the real thing - with grass only - a nice touch for the view from under the umbrella. Many of the selling sites boast that their umbrellas are made of 'fresh' material which seemed at first a bit odd. It makes sense though after you think about it - that grass eventually dries and crumbles away over time - so getting a 'fresh' tiki umbrella is the best way to ensure you get as many seasons out of yours as possible. That made sense once I realized how inexpensive they were. It's a repeat seller most certainly.

Those tiki umbrellas look perfectly at home above the various tiki bar sets also available. I'm talking about those types of small bars that you would see on a cruise ship or beach hangout. There are also tiki bars & barstools with small attached thatched roofs made of the same material used on the tiki umbrellas. It only lacks a matching grass skirt at this point. Make a note of that - find a grass skirt source too.

Lastly there are also many sources for the do-it-yourself types. Very thorough and inexpensive 'build it yourself' manuals can be had including myriad assembly designs and plans to select from. Its surprisingly popular. Something like that would be a fun idea for say a carnival booth at your local school or church bazaar. A Hawaiian theme night possibly.

There's just something uniquely comfortable and relaxing about the thatch hut atmosphere. Something primitive, charming and appealing about things tiki. A genuinely authentic tiki party looks like an easy and fun backyard project to me. What do you think?

Discover How To Stop and Prevent Muscle Cramps

No-One is Safe From Muscle Cramps

When you are training to get fit or build muscle you are going to get muscle cramps at some stage in your training program, it happens to everyone. Believe it or not people who don't train also get muscle cramps, so no-one is safe!

Simply, muscle cramps are just muscle contractions which happen completely involuntarily and usually occur in your leg and stomach muscles. Muscle cramps are a real pain, and can really disrupt your training workout, but there are a number of things you can do to help reduce the frequency and probability of muscle cramps.

Tips To Prevent Muscle Cramps

There are a number of reasons for muscle cramps; the main one is that they are induced by dehydration, low salt and ion levels in the body. So make sure that you carry a good energy drink with you to training, preferably an isotonic drink which has the correct composition of sugars, salts and other ions.

Make sure that you warm up properly before you start training, do at least five minutes of light jogging or skipping to get your blood flowing and cardiovascular system ready. Follow this with some dynamic and static stretching to loosen off your muscles before you do any lifting or intense exercise, as this will also help prevent injuries and allow you a full range of motion in your exercises.

If you have been out of training for a while make sure you place more emphasis on warming up and warming down than you would normally as you are more prone to getting muscle cramps when you've out for a while, the same applies to beginners. Gradually build up the intensity and ensure the muscle groups which you are training have 48 hours to recover before working them again especially if you are doing weights.

The most important thing that you can do to reduce muscle cramps is to stay well hydrated, sip water or your energy drink regularly throughout your training session to keep on top of it. If it is hotter or more humid than normal, drink more as you will lose extra fluid through sweat, so it's important that you constantly replace it.

Key Points:

-Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated

-Carry a sports drink to replace ions and nutrients lost through sweat

-Warm up and warm down properly

Muscle cramps are normal, every athlete gets them at some point, they usually go away after a minute of so, or quicker if you can stretch the muscle out, however the muscle may remain painful afterwards. If it does, softly massage and stretch the muscle to help it relax, then ice it and rest it for a few days.

Water-Resistant Flashlights - Outdoorsmen and Professionals Will Benefit

If an emergency occurs and someone is in distress, professional divers, firemen and rescue works must respond to the challenge immediately. Waiting for ideal weather conditions or better lighting is not an option when lives are at stake and the potential for destruction is high. It is no wonder that these professionals demand the highest quality in their lighting equipment. Their flashlight must be strong. It must be bright. It must be easy to use. And for many it must also have air-tight construction that leaves the device water resistant.

A water resistant LED torch can cut through the clouds and rain of a thunderstorm, illuminate a darkened street at the scene of a vehicle accident, and accompany a rescue diver searching for wreckage and survivors under water. These lights have proven their worth to many rescue professionals because of their strong, bright light, and long life.

While few of us will encounter the harsh conditions that professional rescue professionals must, we can take much from their experience and apply it to our own needs. Professionals demand a certain level of reliability and quality for all of their equipment.

Professionals as a whole tend to prefer the inherent characteristics of an LED light source. These flashlights burn much longer than a traditional flashlight. They also give off a higher lumens output than many traditional flashlights. This means the brightness is intense enough and clear enough to cut through the darkest areas. LED bulbs are also more durable than incandescent or halogen bulbs, making them ideal for extreme situations like fires, rescues and even the military.

There are of course adventurers out there that do consider diving, treasure hunting or snorkeling a vacation pass time. These individuals tend to consider LED flashlights the superior option and water-resistance a necessary feature. The strength of an LED torch made for underwater use cannot be beat when it comes to illumination.

The everyday home owner or outdoorsmen may not immediately consider the importance of a water resistant flashlight. You do not have to take your torch diving to 60 meters below to benefit from water resistance. If you are in the rain on the side of the road changing your tire or caught camping in the rain for a weekend, it is nice to know that your flashlight can handle the weather. Having these lights can prove very beneficial in your home emergency kit as well. Should rising water, broken pipes, a power outage or other unforeseen problem occur while you are at home, water can become a significant danger. Water-resistant equipment can give you and your family the assurance that you can weather through the problem.

Professional divers and rescue workers have known for a while the value of these lights. With the long lifespan and durability that a LED torch provides, people that use flashlights know they make an excellent choice. Campers, hunters and fisherman have understood for a while that a sturdy water-resistant LED flashlight is a key component of many outdoorsmen's gear.

Easy Creme Brulee Recipe

Burnt cream is the English term given to the Easy Crème Brulee Recipe which is a French term. Brulee is a word refers to the custard like dish which has a glaze of sugar finished over it. This simple and easy Crème Brulee Recipe is in fact a typical dish prepared by using soft custard with caramel sugar. It is first cooked and then cooled gradually. A small quantity of caramel sugar is being sprinkled over the custard, which is kept for cooling. The sugar is being caramelized by using the small torch or keeping below the broiler. This famous classic custard takes over its delicate aroma from the easy combination of eggs and cream.

Traditionally, this easy Crème Brulee recipe doesn't make use of any extra flavorings like vanilla. However, this popular recipe is extremely tested on the actual cause of this tasty dish. This old and famous recipe of Crème Brulee which dates back to the year 1909 has several opinions on where it came from England, Spain or France. However, it was normally taken from the popular Book of Ocklye Cookery and is among one of the best and Easy Crème Brulee Recipe you can find in the world. It actually comes from the tribes over at the Connoisseur Sleuth and is not just simple but also remarkable.

Since, this remarkable and delicious recipe of Crème Brulee is prepared in the original French style it is quite simple to cook and is delicious to taste. People around the world, especially in Europe love this particular dish to have during their dinner time. By the way, below you will find the easy method of preparing the Crème Brulee Recipe.

Ingredients you need include:

• 1 ¼ cups of light cream
• 1 ¼ cups of heavy cream or
• 2 ½ cups of heavy cream
• ¼ cup of superfine granulated sugar and
• 4 bigger size egg yolks

Initially, mix both the creams in a pan and boil it for about half an hour. Then pour this cream into the egg yolks immediately and whisk. Put this mixture back into the same pan and cook, however do not allow this mixture to boil. Stir this mixture till it gets thick. Next, pour this mixture into one of the baking dishes and keep it in the refrigerator overnight. Two hours prior to having your meal sprinkle the granulated sugar on the chilled cream and later place it beneath the broiler to preheat on a maximum temperature.

The granulated sugar will caramelize to a smooth and brownish color. Later, place this dish in the grill in order to get an even effect. You have to remember that this step has to be done immediately after the sugar is caramelized so that the custard cream remains cool and firm with crispy brown color. Custard in the dish is referred to the thick cream and its sweetness is eventually results from the crispy sugar which is caramelized. Serve this dish chilled and enjoy your dinner.

Great Songs to Play While Heading to Home Showings

If you're like a lot of Realtors and home buyers, you're probably in the car a lot, driving to and from home showings, appointments with various real estate professionals and to and from your place of work. Sometimes, music can make those times in the car a little less onerous, but you also want something to get you and your passengers in the mood for looking at yet another property. Here is a list of songs that you might consider for your playlist:

Coming Home/Going Home:

On My Way Home - Enya
Home For A Rest - Spirit of the West
Within A Mile of Home - Flogging Molly
Who Says You Can't Go Home - Bon Jovi
500 Miles - The Proclaimers
Homeward Bound - Simon & Garfunkel

Owning a Home:

Our House - Crosby Stills, Nash & Young
A House is Not a Home - Ella Fitzgerald
Our House - Madness
Heaven is a Place on Earth - Belinda Carlisle
Once in a Lifetime - Talking Heads
Home Sweet Home - Motley Crue

When It Just Isn't Going Well

In Every Dream Home a Heartache - Roxy Music
Little Boxes - Malvina Reynolds
Burning Down the House - Talking Heads (Another torch-the-house song. But, hey, it's cool.)
Take Me Home - Phil Collins (this is all about a patient in a mental institution, but, hey, it's got 'home' in the chorus...)
Sunny Came Home - Shawn Colvin (of course, Sunny torches her home, but hey, it's still got a great rhythm)

Location-Oriented:

Sweet Home Alabama - Lynard Skynard
My Tennessee Mountain Home - Dolly Parton
Home on the Range - traditional
Take Me Home, Country Roads - John Denver
California - Joni Mitchell
House in California - Keb Mo

Property Type/Style:

Cadillac Ranch - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Love Shack - The B-52's
Pink Houses - John Cougar Mellencamp
Country House - Blur

These are only a selection of the many songs about houses and real estate. Flip through your mp3 and CD collection to see if you can find more. As a rule, positive and easy listening songs are the best accompaniment when driving to yet another "perfect home". Location songs can also be good choices, if you have some that have to do with the area.

Unfortunately, the effectiveness of subtle messages has never been proven to actually effect people's choices. However, it's great to have some songs that can focus and motivate one in the realm of home selling, even if they don't compel the client to buy!

How To Burn Fat Without Cardio Or Dieting

I hate cardio.

I hate treadmills, exercise bikes and elliptical machines. I hate exercising for hours at a time, just to burn off a few measly calories.

Luckily, I recently discovered a way to burn NINE TIMES more fat without wasting my time on the treadmill.

Oh, and best of all, I didn't have to go on a diet or restrict my eating in anyway.

Here's what this is all about:

Scientists in Japan have now confirmed what you knew all along: Simply put, you burn more fat by working out intensely than you do when you "dog" it.

Unfortunately, all the "weight loss experts" told us that the only way to burn fat was to exercise at a steady pace for 45-60 minutes at a time. Yuck! 60 minutes on a treadmill, watching CNN? No thanks.

I decided to try the routine that the scientists in Japan developed, one commonly known as high intensity interval training.

Here's what happened:

Instead of huffing and puffing on a treadmill for an hour each day, I slashed my workout time to just FOUR MINUTES. No, that's not a misprint. I exercised for just 240 seconds.

In four weeks, I got into the best shape of my life. My heart and lungs were stronger than ever. My bodyfat levels dipped into single digits and my abs (which had been hiding under a layer of fat for quite some time) came into view.

How could I make such a dramatic transformation in just 4 minutes a day? Well, the high intensity interval training routine actually burns more calories in 4 minutes than working out in the traditional manner for an hour or more.

Here's the science: When you perform traditional cardio, your metabolism rises while you are working out. But as soon as you stop your exercise, your metabolism drops back down to normal levels.

But when you do High Intensity Interval Training, you don't burn very many calories during your four minute workout. But your metabolism stays elevated for 24-48 hours after your workout! So you're burning calories and fat all day long.

How To Kick Start Your Metabolism And Blow Torch Body Fat

If you're ready to finally burn off that stubborn body fat, you may want to give high intensity interval training a go (assuming your doctor says it's ok).

Instead of walking on a treadmill for 60 minutes at the same pace, try alternating speeds every minute. This forces your body to constantly adapt and you'll burn more calories.

Next, increase your speed and drop your workout time down. You don't need to waste 60 minutes a day when you learn how to push yourself.

Finally, keep at. High intensity interval training is not easy... but the results come quick. Don't be surprised if you end up in the best shape of your life.

The Four Elements of Hip-Hop

The emergence of hip-hop in the early 70's produced four elements, which continue to be mainstays of the genre: disc jockeying or a DJ, break dancing, emceeing or an MC, and graffiti art. How prominent are these elements today and how were they represented during BET's first annual hip-hop awards in Atlanta? Upon acceptance of the "I Am Hip-Hop Icon Award," rap pioneer, Grandmaster Flash paid homage to a host of DJs. According to Flash, DJ's were once the gatekeepers between the record labels and the streets. In 1996, thriving regional radio stations that reflected a community's heart and soul were replaced by media conglomerates with syndicated play lists. Followed by a myriad of changes in music distribution and leadership at radio stations and record labels, the fire that fueled hip-hop's reputation began to fade. To maintain integrity, Flash encouraged a shifting to the way things use to be--where new music was received and circulated by the DJs. Knowing that DJs spend all of their time in tune with the streets via clubs and parties, Flash commented, "It makes sense that [DJs] break a record." Flash also admonished MCs to allow DJs to perform on stage. "The template was designed for DJs to play a part," he said. Embodying the original template, Atlanta's DJ Drama, was among several DJs who held it down on stage alongside notable MCs. Even though break dancing and poppin' are nostalgic forms of hip-hop both are visible in varying forms of dances including the Bay Area's hyphy. Newer dances that help hip-hop maintain its hype include snap, shoulder lean, motorcycle, and chicken noodle soup. DJ Unk and the Big Oomp Camp showed attendees just how easy it was to walk-it-out in sync. While MCs abound in every corner of the globe, talent comparable to the innovators who dominated the 80's and 90's is hard to come by. As hip-hop aficionados anticipate "the new," music executives search desperately for the one or ones who will carry the hip-hop torch to the next phase. Invariably, advances in technology and a shortage of lyricists who have solid albums have caused a noticeable erosion of hip-hop's staying power.

For the past six years, hip-hop was the top-selling genre over R&B and country music and was second only to rock music. This year's lack-luster Billboard ratings are a warning sign of the genre's potential to slow to a lull until new life respires. Pending change, BET Hip-Hop award recipient, Common is the current standard for aspiring lyricists. Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne, Lupe Fiasco, and T.I. are among his peers. Graffiti art was once an economic menace to society. For years, buildings, buses, trains, sidewalks, etc., were regular targets for unwanted and unappreciated artist tags. Today, graffiti art is perhaps the most embraced aspect of the hip-hop culture. New canvases of the profitable, permanent, and mobile enterprise now include skin (by way of tattoos), clothing, and vehicle wraps. Among the many artists profiling their "tag" or some else's during the awards were The Game, Nelly, Jim Jones, Chamillionaire, T.I., and Juelz Santana. As it relates to the four elements of hip-hop, BET's hip-hop award show recognized exceptional work and contribution to the hip-hop genre by acknowledging the Producer of the Year, Lyricist of the Year, Hip-Hop Dance of the Year, and Director of the Year. For a complete listing of award winners, visit: www.bet.com/Music/hiphopawardswinners.htm?wbc_purpose=Basic&WBCMODE=PresentationUnpublished

Christmas Baking Recipes - Creme Brulee

This rich custard dessert is real favorite during the holidays. You can use a small blow torch to brown the sugar, instead of the broiler.

4 cups heavy whipping cream

9 egg yolks

3/4 cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Brown sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

In a large and heavy saucepan, heat the cream to exactly 180 degrees over medium heat; stir frequently.

Meanwhile, in a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks, sugar and vanilla. When the cream reaches a temperature of 180 degrees, slowly stir the cream into the egg yolk mixture.

Pour mixture into eight 6-ounce custard cups. Place the cups into a baking pan. Add 1-inch of boiling water to the pan. Bake uncovered for 45 to 50 minutes or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. Take custard cups out of the pan.

Before serving, sprinkle each cup with brown sugar. Put the cups onto a baking sheet. Heat up the broiler. Broil 6-inches from the heat source for 3 to 5 minutes or until the sugar on top is carmelized. Serve immediately.

Makes 8 servings.

Christmas Baking Recipes: French Vanilla Cream Puffs

These elegant cream puffs are surprisingly easy to make.

1 cup water

1/2 cup butter

1 cup all purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

4 eggs

Cream Puff Filling

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Prepare baking sheets with nonstick cooking spray.

In a saucepan, add butter to water and bring to a boil. Add in the flour and salt together; stir until a smooth ball forms. Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes.

Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one. Beat until mixture is smooth and shiny.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2-inches apart onto prepared baking sheets. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove puffs to wire racks or plates. Immediately cut a slit into each puff to allow the steam to escape. Let puff cool.

Split puffs in two and remove the soft dough. Add filling.

Cream Puff Filling

1 1/2 cups cold milk

1 pkg. instant French vanilla pudding mix

1 cup whipped topping

1 pkg. miniature semisweet chocolate chips

Confectioners' sugar

Directions

In a bowl, beat the milk and pudding mix on low speed for 2 minutes. Let sit in the refrigerator for 5 minutes. Fold in the whipped topping and chocolate chips. Remove puff pastry tops. Fill each puff pastry with cream filling right before serving; put tops back on puff pastry. Dust each pastry with confectioners' sugar.

Christmas Baking Recipes: Banana Cream Brownie Dessert

Loyola the Luciferian

Ignatius Loyola - Luciferian or Heliopolitan:

I kid you not! Lucifer is the 'light-bringer' and just as Hitler was a 'torch-bearer for Jesus' we have the Luciferians inside the Catholic Church to this day as I have covered from the likes of Malachi Martin who was a Papal advisor to three Popes and taught Jewish studies (Kaballah?) at the Vatican College until recently. Indeed all the Alumbrados (means Illuminati) people are 'light-bearers' or en-'light'-ened ones. That includes Rodrigo Borgia (Pope Alexander VI) who I have dealt with in many books. I have already mentioned this Idiot's Guide has no mention of the Alumbrados founding the Jesuits or any intrigue related thereto including even the mere mention of Hibernians like Thomas Carlyle, Goethe, Saint Bernard as one, and other things related thereto. This does not surprise me one iota. Read the description of Jesus by Ignatius Loyola and think long and hard about whether I am right about his being inspired by the sun-worship or Heliopolitanism of the Druids; which is the basis of the Masons according to Thomas Paine who was higher up in the 'octopus'.

"The Society of Jesus was founded by Ignatius of Loyola, who could be seen as the Catholic Reformation's equivalent to Martin Luther. {Whose name is suggestive of Lucifer too.} Loyola has been referred to as one of the most important--if not the most important--figures of the Catholic Reformation.

Loyola was born Inigo de Oñez y Loyola around 1491. He was born at his family's ancestral castle in Guipúzcoa. When he was old enough, he entered the military service, where he served until 1521 when he was seriously wounded in battle. During his recovery from his wounds, he read about the lives of the saints of the church, and he was motivated to devote his life to spiritual service. He hung up his sword and spent a year in prayer and meditation at a cave near the Manresa monastery. While there, Loyola fasted, knelt in prayer for seven hours a day, and flagellated himself to the point of endangering his health. {I grew up near a Manresa Lodge that had some weird goings-on and I often wonder when I see them in places like Sedona or other earth-based religious areas. I am sure he spoke with them or received instruction from them at this time.}

Loyola later described this time as an incredible 'mystical' experience during which he had blinding visions of heaven and hell and Christ and Satan. He saw Jesus as 'a big round form shining as gold.'...

...Loyola and the Jesuits welcomed only those whose spirituality reflected his {N.B.} and those who were willing to engage in unquestioned obedience to the pope.{Giving up their possessions like the Templars too.} Any applicant who had even a hint of bad character or lack of orthodoxy was rejected. {Really? What orthodoxy might that be?}...

...The mission of the Jesuits was to educate the young, to lead people back from Protestantism to Catholicism, and to take the Catholic message to new areas of the world.

They were successful in all three endeavours." (3)

How to Weld Metal

The average person's impression of how metal is welded is that you simply fire-up a blow torch and run it along the edge of a metal seam to weld it together. Or they probably think you can just run that same torch across any kind of metal and cut through it, like in the safe-cracker movies. But the reality is that professional welding actually involves some fairly extensive knowledge, and is somewhat of an art form that takes many years of experience to master. Even so, if you are wanting to learn, you can start with a few simple techniques. Once you've mastered the basics and have a beginner's idea, you can then move on to the more complicated skills that take longer to master.

Safety Precautions

Before you ever start any project, always think about safety precautions first. Equipment and supplies can be replaced; you cannot be replaced. You may think that getting burned is the worst thing that can happen in a welding accident. However, damage to your eyes can occur from the intense light that comes from the process. Some metal welding techniques make use of high voltage electricity to create a weld, which always raises the possibility of electrocution or death if the you are careless. As you start any welding project, be sure to wear a proper helmet to protect your eyes, head and hair. And don't forget protective gloves and clothing. Lastly, be sure to read and follow all safety precautions written by the manufacturer of the particular metal welding equipment you are using.

Oxy-Acetylene Welding (also known as Oxyfuel Welding)

This is the type of welding that the average person is most familiar with, and which is often casually described as a "blow torch". However, even though oxy-acetylene welding is the most commonly-known type, it is actually the least used technique among professionals. On the upside, it is less complicated and less expensive than other types of welding. However, oxy-acetylene is less common nowadays because it is less accurate, doesn't produce a weld bead as cleanly as other methods and can result in weaker weld joints due to the slower cooling time it involves compared to other welding techniques. Even so, if you are interested in learning how to weld metal, you may want to practice oxy-acetylene welding in addition to other types of welding. It will be a handy skill to have because it's the best type to use on certain common welding projects, such as pipes or tubes, and when you have to use welding equipment to do repairing, bending and cutting.

Arc Welding

The most common technique used these days is "Arc Welding". If you're learning how to weld metal, you will definitely need to practice arc welding. Rather than using a gas torch, arc welding involves using high voltage electricity passing into the piece of metal. In Arc Welding, a spark (or "arc") jumping across from one piece of metal to the other causes enough heat to melt metal and form a weld. This process is more desirable in most cases because it is more accurate and produces a cleaner, stronger weld. Within the category of "Arc Welding" there are actually several different methods to choose from, depending on the type of metal welding work you need to do.

Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) may be best when you have large welds or metal welding in unusual positions, where a rough weld is acceptable. With this method, the electricity runs through an electrode rod (or "stick") which actually melts, producing the welded joint. On the other hand, MIG Welding, also know as Metal Inert Gas Welding, or Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), may be better if you are involved in a metal welding project that requires more speed. With this welding technique you don't use rods that you have to keep replacing as they melt. Instead, you use equipment that sends the electricity through a metal tip that doesn't melt, and a separate piece of continuous wire is fed to the tip which melts and forms the weld. TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) Welding is somewhat similar to MIG welding, but is better when working with thin materials where you need a high-quality weld and speed is not important. As you learn you will also hear of other methods, such as Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Submerged Arc Welding (SAW), Plasma Welding, etc. But don't worry too much about remembering all of the various techniques. Just focus on one method at a time and get to the point where you are comfortable that you know how to weld with that method before you learn something new.

Other Welding Methods

Although you will primarily be concerned with Arc Welding and Oxy-Acetylene Welding as you learn how to weld, you might hear about other types and wonder what they are, such as Resistance Welding, Energy Beam Welding and Solid-State Welding. Don't let that overwhelm you right now. Many of those welding methods are primarily useful in large, specialized industrial applications and don't really affect you as you learn how to weld.

Conclusion

Hopefully you now know a little more about the basic concepts that will be important to you as you learn how to weld. As you can see, although there are numerous methods, each with it's own unique set of equipment, procedures and purposes, there are actually only a couple of basic methods you need to remember and practice. To get started learning, start practicing with an inexpensive arc welding setup. Get yourself a machine and just start experimenting with it on some scrap pieces of metal (after reading all instructions and taking all safety precautions, or course). Figure out what works, and what doesn't. You will soon begin to develop a style that is most comfortable for you. Also, get yourself some oxy-acetylene equipment and try that type, too. With a lot of practice, you will become a good novice fairly quickly and will be able to master just about any common project you may encounter.

What To Include For Landscaping Around A Patio

Landscaping around a patio can be an enjoyable and gratifying process at the same time. There are so many different designs and projects that you can embark on to make your patio's surroundings just as pleasant as the patio itself. First, there are some things you have to consider prior to plotting out the design.

A lot of what landscaping around a patio will depend on how much space you have available. If there is little space after the patio in your backyard, placing a pool around the patio is a little unrealistic. But it is vital that you take into consideration the amount of space that you have open to you.

After considering the amount of space you have available, next you have to consider how much money you are willing to spend. It can become quite costly depending on what you put around the patio and how much you decide to put. It is important that you take the time to get quotes and prices prior to purchasing anything.

Once you have taken the space available and the money available into consideration, it is time to think about what you want to include for landscaping around a patio. One of the most popular items to place around a patio is a pool. A pool can be a great addition to relax and enjoy yourself in the sun.

If you have included a lot of greenery and bright flowers on the patio, a beautiful garden can fit perfectly around a patio. It will match the scenery that you have already started on your patio and continue all throughout your yard. If done correctly, you can make the patio flow smoothly right outside of the patio as well.

Another option can be to create a tropical atmosphere that is comfortable and extremely relaxing. To set the tone right away, placing two birdbaths or small waterfalls can be a great addition right off of the patio. From there, include stepping stones with tiki torches lining the path to a garden of some sort. In addition, you can include various trees to flourish the backyard.

The list of ideas for landscaping around a patio is endless as it depends on the theme you want to go with, the space you have to work with, and the amount of money you are willing to spend. But just know that there are a number of different designs and projects that you can take on to give your patio the perfect setting.

Growing Flowers for Fun or Profit

As the micro eco-farming movement continues, flower carts from mini flower farms: backyard to half an acre, are springing up on small town street corners and near busy urban coffee shops. U-pick flower patches and honor-system flower stands are further ways flower lovers are earning income.

For those who prefer being with flowers to being with people, the honor system bouquet stand allows growers to play in their flower patch all day, make beautiful arrangements to set out in the morning, and simply collect the cash from the locked cash box in the evening.

Avoid competing with larger cut flower farms, grow ecologically, no pesticides, herbicides, etc. More and more of the mainstream is becoming concerned about the damage caused by the chemical flower industry. Advertise your sustainable approach with your flowers, letting customers know your flower farm does not harm the environment and is a haven for local birds, bees and butterflies. And, grow popular varieties but with a twist: add unusual flowers types amidst more common varieties with your bouquets, or grow unusual varieties of the familiar favorites. Here are several for starters:

- Dwarf lilacs that bloom off-season. How wonderful to find bouquets of this classic country favorite in fall!

- Be the first to offer new varieties of familiar flowers. Such as newly developed colors of dahlias or cosmos or sunflowers. 'Lemon Queen,' for example, is a unique sunflower with lemon-yellow petals and a chocolate colored center.

- Become known for specializing in something unique, such as old-fashioned heirlooms like 'Kiss-Me-Over-The-Garden-Gate,' which produces many rope-like hanging flowers on its six-foot tall stems.

More marketing tips:

Give deeper meaning to your flowers and let customers know the flowers' histories. If you grow Mexican Torch sunflowers, let your customers know this is also called, "Golden Flower of the Aztecs.

Extend the season by producing non-perishables from your flowers. This includes drying flowers, selling flower seeds with handmade greeting cards (as described more at the Center for the Micro Eco-Farming Movement, www.MicroEcoFarming.com, or making floral waters. Type up tags for your fresh cut flowers that let buyers know of your other locally grown, handcrafted floral products they can purchase throughout the year.

Ryszard Siwiec self-immolation

OF COMMUNISM ...... A father of five from Przemyśl, Siwiec planned his self-immolation in advance, leaving written and tape-recorded statements explaining his revulsion at both the Warsaw Pact invasion and communist Poland's participation in it. His death foreshadowed the famous self-immolation of Jan Palach in Prague four months later. It has not been revealed whether Palach knew about Siwiec's act of protest, as the Polish communist authorities vigorously suppressed any information about it, stating only that Siwiec was "suffering from mental illness". Although his act was captured by a motion picture camera, newsreels of the festival omitted any mention of the incident.

Creme Brulee Recipe and History

Creme Brulee is a classic dish of smooth custard, with a caramelized sugar topping. Creme Brulee is highly contested on the actual origin of this delectable dish. I am looking back over my notes taken while attending a French Culinary school. The dish that I have cooked many times, are of course, the so called Classical French version. There are many different opinions on where the dish originally came from, such as Spain, England or France. I just know that Creme Brulee is very easy to make, and it is equally delicious. It is one of my favorites, and it is always a hit at any dinner event.

Ingredients you will need:

10 egg yolks

1/2 cup granulated white sugar

3 cups heavy cream

1 tablespoon of pure vanilla bean paste

1/4-1/2 cup granulated white sugar, you will add this to the top of the chilled custard, and caramelize with a torch.

2 large stainless steel mixing bowls if you have them, glass will work fine, too

Preheat your oven to 300ºF. You will need a glass or metal large mixing bowl, and I prefer to use a stainless steel that has a flat bottom. I really like the ones that have the flat bottom without the stamp mold on the bottom of the bowl, as it helps for much better mixing. The whisk will be able to get all places of the bowl, where as if it has a mold or ring stamp in the bottom the whisk will not be able to incorporate all ingredients. You will need to whisk together egg yolks, and sugar until the sugar has dissolved. You will know that this has happened when the mixture has turned thick, and the color of the mixture becomes a pale yellow. Add your heavy cream and vanilla, and continue to whisk until well blended. Strain into a large bowl, skimming off any foam or bubbles.

You will need to divide as evenly as possible the mixture of your egg custard into the 8 ramekins, or some call them custard cups. Place ramekins on a large deep sided sheet pan, into a water bath, this is where the water is up to about halfway up the sides of your ramekins. The water is usually about 1 or 2 inches total in the pan. You will bake the custard, until the custard is a gel consistency, or set around the edges, but still somewhat loose, but not runny in the center, about 45 minutes to an hour depending on your oven.

Remove from oven and the water bath. If you have a metal grate, or cooling rack, you will put them on the rack for about 20-30 minutes, or until cool to the touch. You will want to get them into the refrigerator quickly after that. There are eggs in this dish, and you will want to lessen the opportunity for bacteria growth. You will want to chill them in the refrigerator for at least a couple of hours, or you can chill over night. When we prepared this dish in culinary school, we chilled them overnight.

When you are ready to serve your creme brulee dessert, sprinkle about 2-3 teaspoons of sugar over each custard. For best results, use a small, hand-held torch to melt sugar, if you do not have a torch and would like to get one, they are at most department stores that have home furnishings. Until you purchase a torch of your own you have other options, you can place your ramekins under the broiler until sugar melts. Make sure you keep a close eye on them, so they will not burn, and all of your hard work is not wasted. Enjoy!

TIG Welding Basics - For TIG Welders, by a TIG Welder

I hear people talk about TIG welding, but My uncle was a "heliarc welder". Whats the difference?

The "TIG" in TIG welding stands for Tungsten Inert Gas. But Before it was called TIG" it was given the name "Heliarc" because helium was the gas that was used when the process was invented. But then someone discovered that argon worked better and so it was called TIG because inert gas could refer to either helium or argon. But wait, then someone else discovered that small additions of hydrogen worked well for some metals. The word "Inert" no longer held true so the eggheads decided a new name was required. So nowadays, the technical term for what used to be called TIG and Heliarc is Gas Tungsten Arc Welding or "GTAW". But Guess what? people still call it TIG and even Heliarc. In fact more people call it TIG welding than Gas Tungsten Arc Welding.

Exactly What is TIG?

TIG welding is akin to gas welding as far as welding technique in that the torch is held in one hand and the filler rod is manipulated with the other hand. It is considered more difficult than other arc welding processes because it requires the use of both hands. Often times a foot pedal amperage control is also used which adds another layer of difficulty.

A TIG torch can be either water cooled or air cooled and is designed to provide shielding gas as well as welding current through a tungsten electrode. A ceramic nozzle directs the shielding gas to the weld puddle and internal copper parts like the collet and collet body hold the electrode in place. The tungsten electrode is sharpened for applications where the arc needs to be pinpointed and for very low amperage. The heat the melts the metal and makes the weld puddle comes from the arc that is created between the tungsten electrode and the workpiece. The arc is shielded by argon, helium, or a mixture of the two. Sometimes for certain alloys, hydrogen is added in small percentages to improve the way the puddle flows. The arc is very smooth and quiet and clean when DC current is used. When the TIG welding machine is set on Alternating current, it is slightly more noisy but still clean and smooth.

What Metals can be welded using the TIG process?

Almost any metal can be welded with TIG. Carbon and low alloys steels like 1010 carbon steel and 4130 chromoly steel,Stainless steels like 304, 321, and 17-7ph, Nickel alloys like inconel 718 and Hastelloy X, Aluminum alloys like 6061,5052, Magnesium alloys like az31b, Titanium alloys like commercially pure, and 6al4v, Cobalt alloys like Stellite 6b and l605, copper alloys like Nibral bronze and pure copper, All can be welding using the TIG welding process.

How can I learn how to TIG weld?

There are plenty of websites out there that offer basic TIG process fundamentals. www.millerwelds.com is a good resource for example. But you need more than a website to be a good TIG welder. Training and practice are critical.

I would recommend a TIG Training DVD like the one available from Hobart institute of Welding or from Miller welding along with some focussed practice on different material types.

When it comes to learning how to TIG, the 3 P's come into play:

Practice
Practice
Practice

And when it comes to the metal being welding the 3 C's are important:

Jackie Mason '08 Vlog 28 The Olympic Torch

From my April 13th radio show. I noticed with the Popes visit this week, that there was more security in San Fransisco last week for the Olympic Torch, than there was for the Pope's visit. Why is this symbol of a sporting event the object of such rage in people? The Torch represents the Olympics, not China or their oppresive treatment of the Tibetans. What good comes from destroying the Torch. Why didn't these "Free Tibet" people protest when they first chose China to host the Olympics in the first place? Huh? I'm going to stay here until we figure this out.
