The month of December brings a wide selection of St. Augustine events for you to choose from as you make your Christmas plans.
1. The British Night Watch. On the first weekend in December, you can drift back to the 1800's as over 400 re-enactors fill the city. The highlight of the weekend is the Grand Illumination Parade, Saturday evening. Follow along behind the regiments as they march by torch light from the Plaza de le Constitution to the City Gates and back again. It is a wonderful experience and a wonderful way to start the Holiday season.
2. Winter Wonderland. Every night from December 1st through January 4th the St. Augustine Amphitheatre is transformed into a winter wonderland complete with ice skating. Ice skating, in Florida? It's wonderful, no worries about frost bite with our balmy temperatures. Winter Wonderland includes sleigh rides, s'mores, decorated nature trails and visits with Santa. A St. Augustine Christmas must do event!
3. Nights of Lights. You will be mesmerized as you arrive. Thousands and thousands of strands of twinkling white lights adorn everything from the bay front to homes to the old oaks in the plaza to city hall and to businesses. It is a spectacular site. In the evenings hop aboard the Holly Jolly Holiday Trolley for a close up look at all the beautiful light displays. Caroling, hot apple cider and cookies make this a perfect evening. Bundle up as the nights can be quite cool.
